London's most expensive hotel suites

London has long been renowned as one of the world's most expensive places to stay in a hotel, but with the opening of two new mega-suites, the price just got higher.

 

The reopening of the Lanesborough hotel, following a 19-month refurbishment reported to have cost between £60m and £80m, has introduced the first suite in the capital with a rate of more than £25,000 per night. And not far behind is the Langham London's new top suite, launched in time to celebrate the hotel's 150th birthday.

 

Occupancy figures are hard to come by, as are the actual rates paid, especially for guests that book in for an extended stay when it is unlikely that they will pay the published price.

 

What is certain, though, is that trophy suites are likely to have an impact on revenue per available room and average room rates â€" which can only be favourable for operators.

 

Inside Hotels has gathered the details of what we believe to be London’s most expensive hotel suites, although this list is not necessarily definitive. All prices are inclusive of VAT.

 

The Lanesborough â€" the Royal Suite

The Royal Suite was reinstated as the Lanesborough’s largest suite when the hotel reopened in July. It offers seven bedrooms and bathrooms, two living rooms with views of Wellington Arch and the gardens of Buckingham Palace, and a dining room seating up to 12 people. There is an adjoining kitchen galley and a private entrance for the Royal Suite’s private butler, who is available to guests 24 hours a day. The hotel’s chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce Phantom is also available as a complimentary service.

 

The Langham London â€" the Sterling Suite

The Sterling Suite, which opened in June, was inspired by the heritage of English pageantry and precious materials. Offering a maximum configuration of six bedrooms, the suite was designed by hospitality designers Richmond International. It features a secluded lobby area leading onto two main bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, including standalone bath tubs. There is also a drawing room with a dual-tone piano, fireplace, butler’s bar and a personal 24-hour butler service.

 

Corinthia hotel London â€" the Royal Penthouse

The Royal Penthouse is located over two levels of the hotel. It boasts an entrance lobby with a sweeping staircase, internal lift, lounge, dining room, butler’s kitchen, study and master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. There is also a second bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, living room, spa suite and terrace offering panoramic views of the River Thames. The main terrace has seating around a working gas firepit and a separate dining area. The Box hedging around the perimeter is interspersed with large lanterns.

 

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park â€" the Royal Suite

The Royal Suite is a three-bedroom residence with a master bedroom, spacious walk-in dressing room and a balcony offering views over Hyde Park. The living room features an original fireplace and a platinum-topped coffee table. There is also a dining room which can hold up to eight guests. A private kitchen has a discreet separate staff entrance. The space can also be used for meetings, with audio and visual equipment concealed behind antique mirror panels.

 

The Berkeley â€" the Opus Suite

In the Opus Suite sliding doors merge the living room, study, master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining room to create a cohesive space. It overlooks Hyde Park and Knightsbridge and was designed by architect and designer André Fu. It also offers an in-house service from the Berkeley’s two-Michelin-starred chefs Marcus Wareing and Pierre Koffmann, who can be exclusively booked to come and cook for up to 10 guests.

 

The Connaught â€" the Apartment

The Apartment at the Connaught is perched high above Carlos Place on the top floor of the hotel. Uniquely carved entrance doors â€" a feature of many of the surrounding Mayfair homes â€" set the tone for a one of a kind residence. The space, designed by David Collins Studio, features an array of commissioned artworks and limited-edition books. The entrance corridor has been treated as an extension of the living space, and houses a library. There is also a stately double-height sitting room, a dining room and butler service.

 

Shangri-La at the Shard â€" Shangri-La Suite

The Shangri-La’s signature suite covers 188 sq m as a one-bedroom suite with en-suite bathroom and dressing room, separate living room with dining area, office space, guest washroom and kitchenette. It can also be connected to an adjacent room to expand the space to 232 sq m. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide views of London spanning from the Tate Modern to Canary Wharf. The marble-clad bathroom features heated floors with a Jacuzzi bath and separate glass-encased shower.

 

Hotel Café Royal â€" Dome Penthouse

The Dome Penthouse offers three bedrooms within a Grade II-listed section of the building. The master suite is a circular space residing under the iconic copper-domed rotunda. There is also a separate guest bathroom and kitchen. Divided into three by an emerald green partition, half of the master suite is dedicated to a living space with a dining table for entertaining. The other half of the room is split into two for the bedroom and bathroom. Features include a cinema-style screen and LED lighting system.

 

Bulgari â€" Bulgari I Suite

The Bulgari suite on the sixth floor offers a spacious single bedroom and contemporary kitchen with views across Knightsbridge. Inlaid mahogany furniture pays homage to a nautical theme. The connecting room can be booked separately to form a two-bedroom suite. The suite also includes a master bathroom with combined steam and shower room, and a spacious dining room that can accommodate 10 people. It provides a residential feel with features such as open gas fireplaces and expansive terraces.

 

InterContinental London Park Lane â€" Royal Suite

The Royal Suite pays homage to the hotel’s location on the site of 145 Piccadilly, Queen Elizabeth II’s childhood residence. Located on the eighth floor, the suite, designed by the Gallery, offers panoramic views of the Royal Parks. The living and entertaining area features a hand-blown glass chandelier inspired by Her Majesty’s diamond collection. The four interconnecting rooms have been redesigned in a matching style and can be joined to create a five-bedroom, five-bathroom space.

 

Rosewood London â€" Manor House Suite

 

Price From £12,000 per night

The Manor House Suite by Tony Chi comprises a spacious foyer, sitting room, bedroom with dressing chamber, library and dining room to seat eight guests. It also features an expansive marble master bathroom and guest powder room. When booked with the five connecting rooms, the Manor House Suite becomes the Grand Manor House Wing (from £30,000 per night), with its private entrance, lift and own postcode. The single-storey suite is located on the second floor and includes an array of objets d’art and a collection of curated books.
