Wales’s largest independent brewery joins the ranks of companies using business as a force for good.
Tiny Rebel is the latest in a growing number of UK food and drink brands to become a certified B Corp.
The accreditation means the independent Welsh brewery has met high standards of social and environmental performance and transparency.
Verified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, the status also underlines a commitment to goals beyond shareholder value.
Companies are required to reach a score of 80 points in the B Impact Assessment while providing evidence of responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.
A business must also legally embed its commitment to purpose as well as profit in its company articles.
With a B Corp score of 86.9, Tiny Rebel is now part of a community of over 8,000 businesses globally to gain the certification. Some 1,700 of these are in the UK, including hospitality businesses such as Hawksmoor, Lettice Events, Nespresso Professional, Elephant Gin and Gosnells meadery.
Brad Cummings, chief executive and co-founder of Tiny Rebel, said: “Certifying as a B Corp isn’t the easiest and most straightforward thing to do but we were completely committed to doing it as we totally believe that business should always be used as a force for good.”
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, said: “We know that Tiny Rebel is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
