Plans are being drawn up for the conversion of the historic Guildhall and Assizes Court in Bristol into the city's only five-star hotel.
Property developer Trevor Osborne Property Group has bought the Grade II-listed, 19th century building, with a view to transforming it into a luxury, 64-bedroom property with a restaurant and café.
Located between Broad Street and Small Street in the city centre, the building incorporates some elements of the original medieval building which once stood on the site.
The current property, which was partly damaged in the Blitz and rebuilt in the 1960s, incorporates the Central Stairs Hall and original court rooms.
Bristol City Council intends to make the surrounding area a major tourist destination and the new hotel will be part of that plan.
Trevor Osborne Property Group is currently applying for listed building consent, before formerly submitting a planning application. The company specialises in the redevelopment of historic buildings and has been responsible for the renovation of the Buxton Crescent Hotel and Thermal Spa.
