Caterer Graysons has won a £4m per year contract for the catering services at the British Library in London from October 2016.
The contract is for five years and will see Graysons replacing Peyton and Byrne in managing the public restaurant and the cafés at the Library, which receives over 1.6 million onsite visits per year.
In addition, they will be providing event catering and hospitality services for the British Library Conference Centre, managing the staff catering facilities, and developing a new members' lounge and bar area.
The award of the contract follows an extensive tendering process over the past six months and is Graysons' second major contract in the knowledge quarter around St Pancras, following the award of the contract for the neighbouring Francis Crick Institute last year. Graysons are already planning refurbishments to all of the public catering areas in early 2017 and a new café area.
Caroline Brown, head of commercial services at the British Library, said: "We are delighted to be working with Graysons. They impressed us throughout the tender process with their approach to building strong partnerships and their commitment to tailoring their offer and service. We are currently engaged in a series of projects at the British Library which will transform the way people experience and enjoy our buildings. Graysons gave us great confidence that they will work with us to deliver an exciting range of food and drink alongside our other new ventures."
Simona Oproiu, business development director for Graysons said: "This is such a great win for us and we look forward to working with our partners at the British Library to develop the food offers and services in this modern and exciting central London environment."
