Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo is to open a Manchester restaurant in February as part of plans to launch four new UK sites in 2024.
Gino D’Acampo, Manchester will open at the 208-room INNSiDE by Melia Manchester hotel following an £800,000 revamp of the chef’s existing First Steet Bar & Kitchen at the site.
It will seat 200 covers and is described as a ‘premium Italian’ restaurant and bar that will serve Neapolitan pizzas and new ‘table theatre plates’.
An 80-seat outdoor dining area will be redeveloped later next year as an all-weather terrace.
D’Acampo said: “I have a long relationship with the city having opened one of my first restaurants here almost ten years ago and I’m delighted to return to the heart of Manchester, as planned.”
The chef signed a deal with Spain’s largest hotel group Meliá International in 2021 and has since opened restaurants in its INNSiDE by Melia hotels in Liverpool and Newcastle.
Luciano, which is pitched as a higher-end Italian restaurant, opened at the ME London hotel on the Strand in 2021.
The chef’s company also runs an Italian restaurant at the Leeds Marriott Hotel in partnership with hotel giant Marriott International.
The Gino D’Acampo restaurants brand is part of the Upmarket Leisure group, which was founded in 2021, and is set to open three further UK restaurants in 2024.
INNSiDE by Meliá has hotels in 37 locations, spread across 16 countries with seven additional properties in the pipeline.
Garry Fortune, UK director of operations at Meliá Hotels International, said: “Gino and his team are a trusted and much respected partner with a proven track record for delivering on performance.”
