Gilsland Hall hotel in Cumbria to be transformed into luxury property

A Cumbria hotel is to undergo an extensive refurbishment to transform it from a three- to a five-star property following its acquisition by property investment company Stratsmore Holdings.

The 93-bedroom Gilsland Hall hotel near Brampton was put up for sale in September 2019 with an asking price of £1.55m after administrators were appointed to its parent company Northern Powerhouse Developments.

Located within 140-acres of landscaped gardens and woodland close to Hadrian's Wall, the hotel will be operated by Monday Hospitality Group under its new country house hotel brand, Black Book Hotels.

The transformation of the property will see the number of bedrooms reduce to 75 and the addition of a luxury spa and a screening room. On its website, Stratsmore said it is expected to achieve a market value of around £25m once the refurbishment is completed.

Work will get under way in the autumn, with the new look hotel expected to be ready by spring 2022.
