The launch of the Punjabi gastropub follows the closure of the Anands’ Brilliant Southall, which traded for 50 years
Chef Dipna Anand has revealed further details of her upcoming restaurant, Brilliant Gastro by Dipna Anand, which is due to open later this month.
Located in Parkside Yards at the Green Quarter, a regeneration project in London’s Southall, the 80-cover Punjabi-inspired gastropub will serve dishes such as crazy corn chilli ribs, chicken biryani arancini, smoking robata chop and cardamom-infused sticky toffee pudding. Larger sharing spreads such as Dipna’s Special Meat Feast Thali or the Vegetarian Thali will be available alongside the main menu.
The chef has also relocated her cookery school to the new site, which resides in a larger mixed-use development consisting of a padel club, canoe club and tree nursery.
The launch of the Brilliant Gastro comes after the closure of the Anands’ Brilliant Southall earlier this month. Dipna’s father, Gulu, opened the London-based community diner, which served Punjabi cuisine infused with Kenyan influences, with his brother Kewal in 1975.
Dipna said: “As Southall transforms, so do we. This gastropub is my personal take on the flavours I love – a fusion of my Punjabi roots and modern influences. We’re bringing something completely fresh to Southall’s dining scene. There’s nothing else like it!”
Marcus Blake, managing director at St George, Berkeley Group, added: “Brilliant Gastro is a fantastic addition to Parkside Yards, which has quickly established itself as meeting point for friends, families and neighbours to socialise. The community’s unparalleled location, moments from Southall station, and incredible amount of open space, makes it an appealing place to live and visit. We look forward to the opening of Brilliant Gastro.”
Brilliant Gastro by Dipna Anand is opening on 25 April.
Dipna Anand also operates Dipna Anand Kitchen and Bar at Unity Place in Milton Keynes in collaboration with Compass Group and the kitchen at her local pub, the Plough in Norwood Green.
