The casual dining restaurant is due to open in 2025.
Chef Dipna Anand is to open a casual dining restaurant in Southall, London, early next year.
The owner and head chef of the family-run Brilliant Restaurant, which serves Punjabi cuisine with a Kenyan twist in Southall, will launch her new venture – Brilliant Gastro – at the Parkside Yards development.
Brilliant Gastro will occupy one of the largest sites within the Green Quarter, a regeneration project transforming a former gasworks site into new homes, lifestyle stores, an arts centre, padel club, canoe club, gym and gardens.
Anand’s restaurant will serve a mix of Indian and Western flavours in a relaxed, informal setting.
Anand said: “It’s the food I love to eat! Indian food with British twists; Indian favourites, and traditional British dishes, so there’s something delicious for everyone.”
Marcus Blake, managing director, St George, part of the Berkeley Group, said: “Dipna Anand is such an iconic chef, and welcoming her to Parkside Yards signals a huge milestone for the evolution of the Green Quarter.
“This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to building a thriving and dynamic neighbourhood that embraces both new opportunities and local culture, enhancing the living experience for our residents and creating something truly special for the wider community.”
The Brilliant brand was founded in the 1950s by Anand’s grandfather, Bishen Dass Anand. Its first site was a restaurant, nightclub and hotel in Kenya, which was followed by the launch of a catering business.
In 1973, the family moved to the UK, where sons Kewal and Gulu Anand opened the first Brilliant restaurant on Western Road in Southall in 1975.
Dipna now runs the restaurant with Gulu and Shanker Anand.
