Heston Blumenthal’s three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck restaurant in Bray is temporarily offering a shorter, lower-priced version of its tasting menu for customers.
The Sensorium Select menu is on offer throughout January and February and is priced at £225 per person, while the full Sensorium menu ranges from £295 to £395 per person.
Dishes on the abridged menu include the restaurant’s famous Sound of the Sea dish, as well as a the ‘Like a Kid in a Sweet Shop’ dessert trolley, and Aerated Beetroot.
The Sensorium menu is billed as a “journey through the mind” which explores how diners’ senses help create memories while they eat.
In an email to customers, the Fat Duck said: “For a limited period, the Fat Duck is offering an alternative, shorter menu – the Sensorium Select - giving the opportunity to experience a specially curated series of dishes that capture the creative core of the Sensorium menu – what you might call a taster of the tasting menu. A simple, intense way of exploring exactly what the Fat Duck is all about.”
The email said there were a range of non-alcoholic drinks pairings available for customers doing Dry January, including, juices, mocktails and "wine-aroma-driven techniques like infusing Chardonnay grape juice with roasted hazelnuts, vanilla pods, lemon peel and star anise to create a Nutty Chardonnay."
The Michelin Guide describes the Sensorium menu as including “many Heston Blumenthal classics, alongside some new creations – and his motto, 'question everything', remains”.
The Fat Duck was opened by Blumenthal in 1995 and holds three Michelin stars.
Karl Jacques was appointed head chef at the restaurant at the end of 2023, five years after joining as chef de partie in 2018.
