Drake & Morgan’s the Refinery bar and restaurant on Edinburgh’s St Andrew Square is closing on 12 September after its landlord served the operator notice.
The operator’s Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) was approved by creditors in June and three sites were earmarked for closure, leaving the bar and restaurant group with 19 venues in London, Manchester and Edinburgh. However, the Edinburgh site was not part of the original three sites planned for closure.
Drake & Morgan said: “We are incredibly disappointed that our landlord at the Refinery St Andrew Square has served us with notice. This means we are sadly forced to close our doors on Sunday, 12 September.
“We are doing everything we can to support our team and are very sad to leave Edinburgh. We would like to thank all our loyal customers for their support, and we hope to return to the city in another location soon.”
The Sunday Times has reported Gordon Ramsay could be set to take on the site, although a spokesperson for Ramsay declined to comment.
