The shipping container mall was threatened with closure last year
Boxpark Shoreditch has announced it will remain open until the end of September this year.
It comes after the shipping container mall, which is home to 47 small businesses, said it had secured a short-term lease to continue operating in its original flagship east London site.
Boxpark Shoreditch’s future was called into question last summer after it reached the end of its lease and was served notice by landlord Bishopsgate Goodsyard after occupying the site for almost 14 years.
Talks to extend its lease were unsuccessful. However, a campaign was launched to save the site, which opened in 2011.
Boxpark chief executive officer Ben McLaughlin said: “The support we’ve received from the community has been nothing short of inspiring. The extension of our lease provides certainty to the 47 small, independent businesses, and hundreds of their employees across our Shoreditch site.
"We are absolutely thrilled to continue our journey in Shoreditch and remain committed to providing a platform for independent businesses and a vibrant space for our customers.
“As we move forward, we look forward to making the most of our site and partners support to ensure that Boxpark Shoreditch continues to thrive.”
Boxpark currently operates five sites, four in London and one in Liverpool. Later this spring, it will launch its sibling social dining concept Boxhall in London’s Liverpool Street, with capacity to hold up to fourteen kitchens and food retail spaces.
A new 3,500 sq ft social gaming concept, Playbox, will debut at its Croydon food hall this month.
