London-based shipping container development Boxpark is set to open its first site outside the capital on 19 April.
The project was first announced in September 2022 after the group agreed to a 15-year lease with Terracotta Asset Management Limited for the Canning Hall site in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.
Boxpark secured planning permission to open the £5m development in February last year, with an initial launch date slated for late 2023.
The all-day dining and events space spans 21,000 sq ft and is set to showcase eight independent traders from in and around Liverpool.
An additional 5,500 sq ft external terrace will be used for al fresco dining, taking the total capacity for Boxpark Liverpool to 1,500.
Simon Champion, chief executive of Boxpark, said: “The team have been working hard to ensure our first opening outside of London will be as impactful as we had envisioned when originally planning Boxpark Liverpool. We’re transforming Canning Hall and bringing job opportunities into the area, which we’re incredibly excited about.”
Boxpark has sites in Croydon, Wembley Park and Shoreditch. It revealed plans to launch in Birmingham in October last year.
The group’s new Boxhall concept is also due to begin its roll out in Bristol and London’s Liverpool Street later this year.
