BaxterStorey partners with Amazon to open checkout-free store

BaxterStorey has partnered with Amazon to open Social Bee, a checkout-free micro supermarket, at Amazon's London headquarters in Shoreditch.

The foodservice provider has been managing the catering offer at the site since 2017.

Social Bee is the first UK hospitality business to be powered by Amazon's Just Walk Out technology, which is also in place in Amazon Fresh stores.

Customers enter the store with their credit card and do not have to wait in a queue to pay, as they will only be charged for the items they take out of the shop.

Social Bee offers grocery products, grab-and-go items as well as ready meals prepared on site by BaxterStorey's chef team.

Rob Brown, head of IT at BaxterStorey, said: "We're so excited to be launching this industry-first, checkout-free store at Amazon's Shoreditch headquarters. We see this as the next stage in the evolution of their workplace hospitality experience."

Jon Jenkins, vice president of Physical Stores, Just Walk Out said: "We're excited to bring our Just Walk Out technology to our London employees so they can experience a frictionless shopping experience while going about their work day inventing for our customers."
