AngloThai’s first permanent site has been a long time coming since it was founded by a husband and wife team in 2018.
The team behind the much-loved AngloThai restaurant concept are to open their long-awaited first permanent London restaurant in autumn.
Husband and wife team John and Desiree Chantarasak have secured their first bricks and mortar site on Seymour Place in Marylebone.
It will open with the backing of MJMK Restaurants, the group behind the Casa do Frango group, Nuno Mendes’ Lisboeta and Santiago Lastra’s Michelin-starred Kol restaurant.
AngloThai’s first permanent site has been a long time coming since the Chantarasaks began running a series of pop-ups and residences in 2018. Several sites have fallen through over the years.
Their new Marylebone restaurant will seat 50 covers and serve its signature cuisine inspired by chef John’s Thai and British heritage.
John’s background includes time spent at acclaimed Thai restaurants Nahm in Bangkok and Som Saa in London, while sommelier Desiree has worked at independent wine bars across central London.
Guests will choose from a daily changing menu or à la carte dishes, and ingredients will include Carlingford oysters, British caviar and Hebridean sheep from Desiree’s family farm in Dorset.
British-grown herbs and Asian produce, such as holy basil, young ginger root, makrut, citrus and chillies, will also feature on the menu.
Wines will be mostly European, while a private dining space named Baan after the Thai word for home will open later in the year.
