Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners has acquired the Dornoch Hotel in the Scottish Highlands as part of its continued expansion across the UK.
It will be the fifth property to join Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts, a collection of hotels situated in premium golf destinations, including Rusacks St Andrews, Marine North Berwick, Slieve Donard in Newscastle and County Down in Northern Ireland.
The Dornoch, located in a seaside town in Sutherland, will be renamed the Dornoch Station Hotel to honour the property's original name, the Station Hotel, which dates back to 1902.
The 122-room hotel will remain closed for several months while it undergoes full-scale renovation of all guest rooms, public spaces, and exteriors, including the installation of green spaces, fire pits, outdoor facilities and 89 more rooms.
Philip Allen, who was appointed as president of Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts in May, said: “The hotel marks our fourth in Scotland and our first in the Scottish Highlands, a beautiful and rugged area steeped in history and myth.
“Few golf courses in the world can match Royal Dornoch’s excellence and character, and we are eager to welcome many of its visitors to our hotel. We’re honoured to be stewards of historic properties such as Dornoch Station and look forward to continuing its legacy for many years to come.”
Nashville-based AJ Capital Partners also owns Graduate Hotels, a collection of hotels on university campuses, which includes the Randolph Hotel in Oxford and Graduate Cambridge.
