The Caterer, in partnership with Korero (formerly Purple Cubed) and sponsor Umbrella Training, has announced the 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2023, with the results revealed at last week's People Summit.
As the industry continues to face recruitment difficulties and in the face of a cost-of-living crisis that is affecting both employers and employees, this year's awards celebrate those putting their people first and prioritising their wellbeing. It highlights the employers who demonstrate exceptional skill at employee engagement and those who have promoted retention through the training and development of their teams.
The annual showcase of employment best practice celebrates companies across all sectors, large and small, established or entrepreneurial. The list is decided by the employees themselves, who fill out an anonymous survey compiled by Korero.
Tom Lake, co-founder of Korero, said: “We introduced these awards nine years ago with a view to help drive employee engagement, share great practice and improve hospitality’s reputation as a great place to work.
“This year’s results are reflective of the continued turmoil within the job market as they show a decrease in the overall engagement score from 86% to 82%, with employer net promoter scores also dropping to an average of +59 from +63 the previous year.
“However, the organisations that made this year’s top 30 are still performing significantly better than the rest of the hospitality labour market, where employee net promoter – or eNPS – scores run in single figures for many businesses and in some cases are in the negative.”
The full results are listed below, with further details about the companies in week's issue of The Caterer. The top six entries are presented in no particular order, as they now qualify for the Best Employer Award shortlist at the Cateys on 4 July.
The rankings were unveiled at the end of The Caterer's People Summit held at etc venues St Paul’s in London on 18 May, where many of the companies listed in the top 30 were present to collect their certificates and join a celebratory drinks reception.
