The former head pastry chef at the London department store described his tenure as “magical” and “fulfilling”.
Phil Khoury has stepped down as head pastry chef at Harrods in London after six years in the role.
The Australian-born chef, who specialises in plant-based pastry, joined Harrods in 2018 and worked closely with executive pastry chef Markus Bohr and senior head pastry chef Alistair Birt.
Since moving to London for the role, he has appeared on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and served as a semi-final guest judge on Channel 4’s Bake Off: The Professionals.
Announcing his departure on Instagram, Khoury said: “Having shared my notice a little while back, the end felt like an inevitability coming toward me at a glacial pace. Rarely do we stop to take stock but it must have been when I put this jacket on for the last time that it really hit me like a London double decker bus.
“After a magical, crazy, fast and slow, sometimes challenging but oh soooo fulfilling six years, it’s time for me to take my next steps. I am so grateful to Markus Boh and Alistair Birt for the opportunity of a lifetime. I gave it a red hot go and am so proud of everything I managed to do in and out of Harrods. It allowed me to discover what I was truly passionate about and I’m so happy I got to share it with a remarkable team, past and present.”
He added: “I really can’t wait to share what’s next. Stay tuned!”
