Cateys 2016 winners revealed

World-renowned chef and restaurateur René Redzepi, respected hotelier Bea Tollman and Cornwall's greatest hospitality ambassadors were among those honoured with a prestigious Catey award on Tuesday, 5 July.

Redzepi, credited with running one of the most influential restaurants of our time in the shape of Copenhagen's two-Michelin-starred Noma, picked up the International Outstanding Achievement Award and in so doing joins a very select band of winners, including Nobu Matsuhisa and Daniel Boulud.

Tollman, who has led the Red Carnation Hotel Collection for the past 32 years and has created a legacy in 17 individually designed properties that make up one of the most admired hotel groups in the world, was the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Meanwhile, the Special Award went to Jill Stein and Rick Stein who have built a global brand, as well as nine restaurants, four shops, 40 bedrooms, a pub and a cookery school over the past 41 years.

The winners collected their awards before an audience of more than 1,200 of their peers at what is regarded as the Oscars of the hospitality industry.
“It was a real honour to be joined by such iconic chefs and operators such as Bea Tollman, someone who has been at the forefront of her trade for 32 years and who has achieved so much in her field,” said The Caterer editor Amanda Afiya.

“They were joined by the great and the good of the hospitality industry, who celebrated all of our winners on a special night for the industry. We offer them all our hearty congratulations.”

The Cateys were held at London’s Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel.
