Frank’s RedHot and French’s Mustard’s barbecue competition is back, with an all-expenses-paid trip to Memphis for the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest up for grabs.
The Memphis in May International Festival will take place on 13-16 May 2020, with more than 250 teams from around the world competing in the barbecue contest. Some 70,000 grill heads, pit masters and celebrity barbecue connoisseurs are expected to attend.
Frank's Red Hot and French's Mustard are offering one lucky winner complimentary food and drink throughout the three-day event, access to exclusive chef demos and trend talks and side-stage admission to the live entertainment programme.
Chris Cannon, commercial controller at McCormick UK (the owner of Frank’s RedHot and French’s Mustard), commented: “It’s fair to say that no one does barbecue like America, and the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is a three-day love letter to the craft. What we’re offering is exclusive access to the heat, smoke, flame and flavour of the competition – an inspirational field trip with a difference on a ticket that money simply can’t buy!
The 2019 trip to Memphis was won by Andrew Bush, executive chef at London smokehouse Bodean’s BBQ. He said: “The event was a real spectacle. The organisers and competing teams had clearly thrown heart, soul and a few other bits and bobs into the event and you really got a sense of how the barbecue culture is ingrained into the very DNA of the people there.
The competition invites entries from UK chefs, caterers and food and beverage managers. To enter go to www.franksandfrenchs.co.uk/memphis and leave your name, job title, place of work and contact number or email. The lucky winner will be pulled out of a hat.
