Work on School Lane hotel at Liverpool ONE is set to begin this spring, Grosvenor Europe has confirmed.
The site in the Russell Building, located on the corner of School Lane and Peter's Lane, will be operated by Hope Street Hotel as part of a joint venture with YPG Developments. It will serve as a sister site to Hope Street's flagship hotel, which houses its two AA rosette restaurant, The London Carriage Works.
The work is expected to be completed in early 2020, and will include 50 guest bedrooms and a restaurant with an open plan kitchen and rooftop bar, as well as a gym, conference room and coffee lounge. Planning for the site was initially approved in 2018.
The design and premium focus is intended to complement Liverpool ONE, which first launched ten years ago. New luxury openings scheduled for the complex include a Ralph Lauren store which opens next spring, as well as Morphe cosmetics, which will open in the summer.
Dave Brewitt, founder and CEO of Hope Street hotel, said: "These are exciting plans that will deliver a high-quality hotel in one of the most popular cities for tourism in the UK.
"In the last ten years, Liverpool's visitor economy has expanded by 66% and Liverpool ONE is at the heart of that growth. Its reputation for the quality of its offer and the experience it provides for visitors creates the perfect setting for School Lane hotel, a landmark sister destination to Hope Street hotel."
Alison Clegg, director, asset management at Grosvenor Europe, added: "We are delighted that Hope Street Hotel has been confirmed as the operator, given their reputation for delivering exemplary service and providing such a high-quality experience for guests. School Lane Hotel is another exciting addition to Liverpool ONE's unique offer."
