Alain Roux's three-Michelin starred the Waterside Inn in Bray, Berkshire, has applied for planning permission to increase the size of its rooms.
The plan is to extend the first floor by 37sq m and reduce the number of bedrooms from eight to six, at a minimum of 25sq m each.
The application submitted by Roux Waterside Limited on 29 March 2017 also details plans to relocate the terrace, which is currently shared by two bedrooms, to create three private terraces.
The design and access statement submitted to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council said: "The Restaurant has a number of en-suite bedrooms at first floor level and as such is able to accommodate a small number of guests who generally only stay for one night at a time after an evening meal. These rooms are of a variety of sizes, but they are generally on the small size.
"The board is minded to review the layout of these rooms to make as many of them as possible larger, to improve the level of luxury and comfort offered to the overnight guest. This move is to endeavour to offer the same level of highest service and luxury for a bedroom as is and has been delivered downstairs in the restaurant for over 30 years."
The application also covers the replacement of the main sliding restaurant windows on the three sides facing the River Thames, and the replacement of the mechanical plant and ducting above the building to improve the appearance of the building.
If approved, the works will be carried out in the closed period (from the end of December 2017 through to the end of February 2018).
