Warner snaps up Heythrop Park as part of expansion plans

Warner Leisure Hotels has acquired the 300-bedroom Heythrop Park Resort from Firoka as part of its planned expansion.

The acquisition follows the group's recent £50m transformation of Studley Castle in Warwickshire, which is set to open its doors in March 2019, and takes its portfolio up to 15 hotels

Heythrop Park's current franchise with Crowne Plaza will end this month and the hotel will continue to operate independently with the current team in place throughout 2019. Warner intends to commence the refurbishment of the hotel in 2019, opening its doors as a new Warner in 2020.

Built in the 1700s by Charles Talbot, the 12th Earl and 1st Duke of Shrewsbury, Heythrop Park is a Grade II-listed property that sits on 440 acres of parkland and an 18-hole championship golf course.

Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels says: "Hot on the heels of Studley Castle, this announcement confirms further significant investment for Warner and we are now focused on developing our plans for the grand opening in 2020."

"The proposition for Warner Leisure Hotels is unique and we want to offer our guests even more choices of places to stay in the UK for break without the kids… The expansion of our hotel portfolio ensures we remain a front runner in that mark, keeping the brand relevant to both loyal and new guests by offering variety and flexibility."
