Vineyard Group managing director Andrew Mckenzie said he was now looking for a replacement for Hemchaoui to run the five-star hotel and spa, which has a 30,000-bottle wine cellar.
Hemchaoui has been general manager at the Vineyard since August 2013, and prior to that worked as the general manager of the Newbury Manor hotel, having owned and run the Square restaurant and Le Petit Square restaurant in Newbury from 2002 until 2010.
The Caterer has approached the Vineyard for comment.
