UKinbound asks Theresa May to ‘support our industry'

UKinbound, the trade association for the UK inbound tourism industry, is urging the prime minister to promote the UK as a welcoming destination during her forthcoming Brexit negotiations.

The appeal was one of four requests made by the body in a letter to Theresa May, welcoming her into her new role.

It has also asked for the UK to retain continued access to the single market, enabling goods, finance and people within the EU to move freely without restrictions or tariffs.

With the latest UKinbound Business Barometer survey revealing that over 30% of its members’ workforce are migrants from the EU, the organisation’s final request was to assure residency for employees.

UKinbound’s chief executive Deirdre Wells said: “Although the negotiating blueprint is far from clear for the pending Brexit, we hope that these four key ‘asks’ to the government will support and ensure the maximum growth for our industry.

“These are issues our members feel are important in maintaining a relationship with the EU. We are a resilient industry and I am confident that our vibrant industry can overcome these challenges we face.”

UKinbound represents 370 inbound tourism businesses.
