UK Hospitality welcomes London Assembly report into night-time economy

UKHospitality has welcomed a London Assembly report into the night-time economy, which recommends steps are taken to ensure workers receive the London Living Wage.

The London Assembly Economy Committee's report also suggests that a gold standard in venue management is encouraged and that London mayor Sadiq Khan works with London boroughs to develop good practice guidance for consulting with residents about the development of the night-time economy.

Among the recommendations it is also suggested that museums and galleries are encouraged to extend opening hours and that boroughs set aside dedicated spaces for the arts.

Kate Nicholls (pictured), chief executive of UKHospitality, said: "The mayor's approach to supporting and revitalising London's night-time economy has been welcome and the Night-Time Commission, with myself directly involved, is at the heart of these exciting plans.

"UKHospitality welcome's the assembly's recommendations for the future of late-night business in London and we will be liaising with policy-makers, our valuable late-night members and the mayor's office to disseminate good practice and ensure positive action. On a personal level, I, along with the Night Time Commission, will continue to liaise with the mayor to provide him with all the assistance and insight he needs to support the capital's thriving late-night sector."
