Trawler Trash fish restaurant set for Islington

Restaurant group Fork & Blade is set to open a new modern fish restaurant in London's Islington.

Trawler Trash opens this month in a site that has served traditional British fish and chips for more than 50 years.

Catch such as pilchards, coley, sprat, grey mullet and crayfish will be served on the day they are delivered, without the use of freezers. The 50-cover restaurant will be closed on Mondays as a result because it is typically a day of rest for trawlermen.

Sample dishes include beetroot-cured ling served on rye toast with pickled beetroot, dill, horseradish and watercress; grey mullet escabeche with carrots, red onion & bay; and kipper carbonara with peas and rocket.

A selection of cocktails, wines, beers and soft drinks will be available at the 12-cover bar.

Fork & Blade’s hospitality portfolio includes Covent Garden coffee House the Black Penny and Aegean-inspired restaurant Firedog in Fitzrovia.
