Travelodge will look to double its portfolio in Cornwall by launching a further eight budget hotels across the region.
The announcement of new developments in the region follows the opening of the chain's 571st location, and its seventh property in Cornwall. The 63-room Camborne Redruth site represents a £5m investment, with bookings available from £29 a night.
In total, the expansion of the brand into the county, which will see openings in Bude, Falmouth, Isles of Scilly, Looe/Fowey, Newquay, Penzance, St Ives and Truro, is likely to create roughly 160 jobs.
Gary Steele, Travelodge's south-west regional director, said:Â âThe Cornwall economy is growing at pace, and as the UKâs top staycation destination, visitor numbers are increasing year on year, however there is still a shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price. Therefore to meet this growing consumer demand, we are actively looking for hotel sites."
