Tom Sellers to open rotisserie concept

Tom Sellers, chef-patron of two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Story in London’s Southwark, is opening Story Cellar at 17 Neal’s Yard in March.

Story Cellar will be a Parisian-inspired rotisseriestyle restaurant with counter dining, where rotisserie chicken will be the primary focus. Stephen Naylor will join Sellers in the kitchen as head chef, having worked as sous chef at Restaurant Story for the past four years.

The new venture will be a continuation of Restaurant Story, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The milestone will be marked with a major refurbishment in the spring, including the addition of an upstairs dining area with outdoor seating. The new opening will also facilitate the extension of Restaurant Story’s wine list once it reopens.

Story Cellar will have a Coravin system, offering guests the opportunity to try rare wines by the glass, as well as an expansive walk-in cellar where guests will be able to store their own personal collections at the restaurant, cared for by a sommelier team. Patrons will be offered a bespoke monogrammed wine list when dining at Story Cellar.

Alongside rotisserie chicken, the menu will offer a house terrine, a daily changing house grill and fish of the day, as well as charcuterie and smaller plates for a quick lunch, or to accompany a glass of wine pre-theatre.

With a total of around 50 covers, the restaurant will primarily comprise counter-style seating at street-level, with window tables facing onto Neal’s Yard. Downstairs, there will be a handful of tables beside the walk-in wine cellars, with this space also available to book for private dining or for larger groups. Story Cellar will run a continuous service throughout the day.

Julia Wilkinson, restaurant director at Shaftesbury, said: “It is a proud moment for us to announce that such a well-established and renowned chef like Tom Sellers has selected Seven Dials for his new restaurant location. We are hugely excited to welcome the new dining concept to the neighbourhood, and its innovative and forward-thinking dining experience promises to perfectly match the iconic Neal’s Yard location.”

Sellers is also set to open Dovetale, a restaurant located in 1 Hotel Mayfair, in May.
