Chef Tom Kerridge has teamed up with British Airways to create a selection of dishes for its in-flight menu.
The range is available to short-haul economy passengers and must be pre-ordered up to 12 hours before departure through the airline’s Speedbird Cafe website.
Kerridge’s menu items are priced between £4.10 and £4.50 and will be made by Do&Co. Dishes include steak and ale pie; a vegan spiced cauliflower tortilla wrap; and a vegetarian Brie ploughman’s sandwich.
They will be delivered to customers’ seats during the flight as part of a bid to reduce contact with staff and cut onboard waste.
Craft beer brand BrewDog is also working with British Airways to create a special IPA, named JetStream, that will be exclusively available.
It is expected that passengers will be able to try the menu before the end of January, Covid restrictions permitting.
Kerridge said: “A sandwich, made with care and great flavours, can be a perfect meal and I hope the passengers enjoy my short-haul menu.”
The chef, whose Marlow pub the Hand & Flowers holds two Michelin stars, also worked with the airline in 2019 on a menu to mark its centenary.
British Airways previously partnered with Marks & Spencer to supply its 'buy on board' food on economy flights, but the three-year partnership ended in 2020.
