Tim Allen confirms departure from Wild Rabbit

Tim Allen, executive chef of the Wild Rabbit in Kingham, Oxfordshire, has confirmed that he is leaving the Michelin-starred property at the end of August.

Allen, who joined the property, owned by Lady Bamford, in 2015, announced his departure on Twitter earlier today.

He commented: "I'm leaving the Wild Rabbit after two fantastic years. I'm immensely proud of the team's achievements to date and I wish them every success for the future. It's been an amazing time working for Carole Bamford and I have [a] great appreciation for her support and vision with the [Rabbit]."

The Wild Rabbit is well known for its support of British farmers and artisan producers. It was awarded a Michelin star in October in the 2017 Michelin Guide to Great Britain & Ireland and three AA rosettes in January 2015.

Speaking to The Caterer

“But it’s been a great journey at the Wild Rabbit and I’m very happy with the accolades we’ve won. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved both in terms of awards and profitability. ”

A spokesperson for the Wild Rabbit commented: “We wish Tim Allen all the luck in the future and we're very sorry to see him go.

“We will make an announcement in due course about a successor who will continue to uphold our great food philosophy.”

Allen, who hails from Yorkshire, has worked with some of the country’s finest home-grown chefs including Simon Gueller, John Burton Race, Daniel Clifford and Martin Burge.

In 2012, he joined D&D London’s Launceston Place as chef-patron, and the restaurant went on to win four AA rosettes and a Michelin star. Given his culinary lineage, Allen has been widely tipped among industry experts as a future two-star chef.
