Three new general managers for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin

Sister brands Malmaison and Hotel du Vin have announced the appointment of three new general managers.

Steven Wilmer (left) has been promoted to general manager of the 60-bedroom Malmaison Cheltenham, having joined the hotel as deputy general manager in December 2016 when he was selected to join the company's Rising Star programme. He originally joined the group in 2014 as bistro and events manager at Hotel du Vin St Andrews and was later promoted to deputy general manager at Hotel du Vin Harrogate.

Wilmer's appointment follows the refurbishment of the property's bedrooms which have taken place since the rebranding and acquisition of the former Montpellier Chapter last year.

Wilmer had replaced Racheal Bird (centre) who has moved to the 95-bedroom Malmaison Oxford as general manager. Prior to the rebranding of the Malmaison Cheltenham, Bird was revenue manager of the Montpellier Chapter.

She said that she was looking forward to working what she described as "an amazing hotel in a beautiful city". Launched in 2006, Malmaison is located within the 11th century former Oxford Castle, which was used as a prison from 1785 to 1996.

Meanwhile, Emma Dore (right), the former general manager at Malmasion Oxford, has moved to the 48-bedroom Hotel du Vin & Bistro Wimbledon. Dore has worked with the group for 16 years and has held general manager roles with Malmasion in Newcastle and Leeds, as well as Oxford.

The Wimbledon hotel, based in Cannizaro House on Wimbledon Common, joined the Hotel du Vin brand in 2015 after being acquired by the company the previous year.

Dore has replaced Beccy Gunn who has been appointed general manager at Bespoke Hotels' White Horse hotel in Dorking, Surrey, to oversee the £3b re-launch of the 57-bedroom property in November.
