Thomas Franks calls for support for NHS meal deliveries

Contract caterer Thomas Franks has called on more businesses to support its meal delivery programme to feed frontline NHS staff and vulnerable children.

The Thomas Frank Foundation currently has the funds to provide more than 20,000 meals in the next three weeks to nine Kitchen Social hubs in London for vulnerable children, as well as ICU and A&E staff meal deliveries to Birmingham City Hospital and the NHS Nightingale Hospital in London.

The foundation is now looking for additional support from businesses to continue the programme during the remainder of the national crisis.

Frank Bothwell, founder of Thomas Franks, said: “We really hope with some further support from other businesses we can continue this service for critical healthcare workers and young people in need. NHS staff are working tirelessly to help people seriously ill with Covid-19, while vulnerable children are unable to qualify for government food vouchers during the crisis and many more cannot access supplies due to food bank closures.

“We’re pleased to be working in partnership with many of clients on our initiative and come together as one team. For example, our client Gymshark has donated £5,000 to the programme and is allowing us to repurpose its kitchen and staff so we can feed frontline staff at Birmingham City Hospital.

“Clients in the education sector, such as Dulwich Prep School and Deutsche Schule London are providing their kitchen facilities so we can deliver the meals to vulnerable children in London. Streatham and Clapham High School is allowing us to use its kitchen to provide staff meals to NHS Nightingale Hospital in London, Kensington and Chelsea Hospital, St George's Hospital and Croydon Hospital, which are being transported by Savona Foods. I’d be delighted to hear from any businesses who would like to support our charitable food programme so we can ensure that it continues as long as it’s needed.”
