The Mulberry in Falmouth permanently closes

The two-AA-rosette restaurant blamed its closure on "rising costs and challenging circumstances".

A Cornwall restaurant which held a Michelin Bib Gourmand has said it will not reopen after Christmas due to difficult trading conditions.

The Mulberry in Falmouth was launched by chefs Harry Cartwright and Jay Brady (pictured), who met while working at the Pig at Harlyn Bay, in spring 2022.

It held two AA rosettes and was awarded a Bib Gourmand for its offer, which included a mix of small plates and a multi-course fine dining tasting menu.

However, the restaurant has announced it will remain permanently closed after the Christmas break.

A post on the Mulberry’s social media platforms on 27 December said: “It’s with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closure of the Mulberry. We would like to thank all of our amazing guests that have joined us over the last three years and for their support.

“Due to the rising costs and challenging circumstances, we are unable to open again.”

The Michelin Guide described the Mulberry’s dishes as “wonderfully balanced and finely crafted, with the skill and originality of the chefs shining through”.
