The Fat Duck reports profit following return to Bray

Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck has returned to profit following its first full year back on home turf following a brief migration to Australia.

Accounts filed with Companies House for the year to 28 May 2017 show post-tax profits of £400,000 following losses of the same amount the previous year.

The return to profit follows the three-Michelin-starred restaurant's six month trip to Australia in 2015, while its home in Bray, Berkshire underwent a £2.5m refurbishment.

The year to May 2017 saw turnover increase to £6.35m, from £6.25m the year before and gross profits of £4.5m, up from £4.1m.

Within the filings the group acknowledge risks to the industry including global economic uncertainty, increases in the National Living Wage, supplier price inflation and potential difficulties attracting talented employees.
