London pub named in Taylor Swift album ‘inundated’ with fans

The Black Dog in London’s Vauxhall, dubbed the Taylor Swift pub, has had to “turn people away at the door” as a result of a sudden surge in customers.

It comes after the pub was name-checked in the artist’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released last Friday.

The song, entitled ’The Black Dog’, includes lyrics such as “And so I watch as you walk/Into some bar called the Black Dog/And pierce new holes in my heart”.

Amy Cowley, marketing consultant for the pub, told The Caterer: “We have had to turn people away at the door as we have been so inundated with customers and fans.

“We were already a busy pub, but we are now experiencing levels of people coming to the door that we hadn’t seen before and, as such, have had to get more team members involved and get security on the door to assist with managing it.”

Taylor Swift fans, known as Swifties, were reportedly sharing tables with each other to ensure more people could get into the pub.

The team have also introduced the Swift burger and are “considering a brunch offering as well”.

“The team have been doing a phenomenal job – it’s been all hands on deck and they have been loving it. The whole team got a bonus this weekend for all the hard work,” she added.

The Black Dog’s Instagram account now includes the tagline “Home to tortured poets @taylorswift”.

Swift’s album has also drawn further attention to her previous London pub visits, which is believed to have included the Spaniards Inn in Hampstead.

A spokesperson for the Spaniards Inn, which is owned by Mitchells & Butlers, said: “We regularly welcome Swifties to the Spaniards Inn and we are expecting the venue to be particularly busy in the summer when Taylor returns to London for the Eras Tour.”
