UK-based independent Greek street-food group the Athenian has announced its ambitious international expansion plans.
Founded by Tim Vasilakis in 2014, the Athenian began in a market stall and has since opened four physical sites across London, as well as 18 delivery kitchens in the UK, on the back of launches in London’s Brent Cross and Glasgow in partnership with Deliveroo and Jacuna this October.
It recently opened four restaurants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and has plans to open four further sites in the Middle East in 2023.
Following on from the launch of three sites in Madrid and Murcia, the Athenian also revealed that it has 10 more sites in the Spanish pipeline.
The street-food operator unveiled its latest 100% plant-based Gyros sauce and is due to release a ‘fiery’ sauce and a new dessert range in 2023.
Commenting on the Athenian’s growth plans, Vasilakis said: “We have always had big plans for The Athenian and I feel that now is the perfect time to launch further afield. We are still as dedicated as we always have been to provide healthy, high quality Greek street food and our gyros taste better now than ever.”
