Ten Hill Place undergoing £8.5m expansion

Work has started on an £8.5m, 52-bedroom expansion of the four-AA-star, 77-bedroom Ten Hill Place hotel in Edinburgh.

The hotel is owned by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), with profits going back into the college. Operated by the college's commercial arm, the hotel posted record turnover of £2.69m in its last full recorded financial year, thanks to an 88% occupancy rate.

The expansion will involve the renovation of neighbouring Hill Place buildings, also owned by the RCSEd, until recently used as offices. Capacity of the hotel restaurant and wine bar will also be increased, and the expansion will provide space for a gym.

As part of the rebrand of the College's commercial activities, the collection of buildings around Hill Square will become known as the Surgeons' Quarter by the summer of 2018 to coincide with the conclusion of work at the hotel. The hotel will remain open during the expansion.
