The 20,000-acre Swinton Estate in Masham, North Yorkshire, has confirmed June as the opening date of a new £8m country club and spa.
Located adjacent to the 32-bedroom Swinton Park hotel and cookery school, the spa has been inspired by the surrounding countryside and developed within original estate buildings and new contemporary structures.
Swinton Estateâs owners, Mark and Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, have led the vision for the project, with support from husband and wife consultancy team Nick and Liz Holmes. Nick, former managing director of Rockliffe Hall, is now a hotel consultant, while Liz, one-time spa director at Rockcliffe Hall, is vice-chair of the UK Spa Association and a spa consultant.
The Swinton Country Club & Spa will incorporate nine treatment rooms, 18m indoor swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, and spa garden with a 10m natural water swimming pool. Fitness facilities will include a gym, exercise classes, outdoor trails and physical training programmes.
Swintonâs executive chef Simon Crannage has created a menu for the spaâs Terrance restaurant which will link nutritional wellness to treatments. The New England/Scandinavian style eaterie will include an open kitchen with a Josper grill and kitchen table.
Bordering the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Swinton Estate has been owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family since the 1880s.
