Supercity Aparthotels has announced plans for a new aparthotel in Edinburgh with the development of 57 luxury suites incorporating Playfair House and the B-listed Forth House in the city’s New Town district.
Development will commence later this year with plans to open in 2023.
Independently owned and operated, Supercity Aparthotels has grown to six properties across London, Manchester, and Brighton over the past 13 years. The company has a further two sites under development in York and Leeds, also due to open next year.
Chairman of Supercity Aparthotels, Roger Walters, said: “We are thrilled to continue our expansion across key UK cities and delighted to have secured such a beautiful location in Edinburgh. The new development will retain the historic façade of Forth House and transform the existing Playfair House to sensitively incorporate old and new. We look forward to welcoming our guests and introducing new ones to the iconic city of Edinburgh.”
Managing director of Supercity Aparthotels, Philip J Houghton, added: “Our ongoing investment in the company has continued to position us strongly to grow and achieve our expansion plans. This new location in Edinburgh will beautifully complement our pipeline developments to maintain Supercity Aparthotels’ position as a leading UK provider of serviced apartment hotels.”
Since 2009, Supercity Aparthotels have specialised in serviced apartment hotels, offering complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, Bluetooth sound system and Nespresso coffee machines. Guests also get complimentary gym access and a 24-hour reception.
The group has four London properties: Templeton Place and Nevern Place in Earl’s Court, the Rosebery in Clerkenwell and the Chronicle on Chancery Lane. Outside of London, its portfolio includes Church Street in Manchester and Q Square in Brighton.
