Luxury serviced apartment operator Supercity Aparthotels is to open a new site in Leeds.
Set to launch in 2023, the aparthotel will be located within the Grade-II-listed building previously occupied by the Jubilee hotel on the Headrow. An extension will be built on the corner of East Parade street, which has been designed to complement the nearby 19th-century Leeds Town Hall building.
The building will incorporate around 55 apartments, with a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, and a residents' gym.
The Leeds aparthotel will be the second signing in 2021 for Supercity, following the announcement earlier this year of a new site in York. The two properties will join the existing six-strong group comprising four aparthotels in London and one each in Manchester and Brighton.
Roger Walters, chairman of Supercity Aparthotels, said “We have secured a beautiful building in a great location and will tastefully blend the best of old and new as we embark on this project. We look forward to bringing our stylish hallmark interiors and warm service to the vibrant city of Leeds.”
In December 2020 Supercity announced that it had secured £10m equity to fund the expansion of the group. Philip J Houghton, a founding partner of Starboard Hotels, former chief executive of Safestay and latterly an advisor to private equity funds on hospitality investment opportunities, was also appointed last year as managing director to support the company’s growth.
