StreetSmart has called on restaurants to sign up to its 2022 Winter Campaign, which aims to raise funds to support homeless people through its £1 per table donation scheme.
Over 350 restaurants have already signed up to the annual campaign that is due to launch on 1 November, including the Fat Duck in Bray, Quo Vadis in London’s Soho and Lina Stores groups.
Amethyst, Caravel and Manteca in London, the Palmerston in Edinburgh and Poli in Birmingham are some of the restaurants to have joined the charity initiative for the first time this year.
Last year, the charity raised over £696,000, which supported over 50 homelessness charities to provide beds, housing, training, job support and mental health services.
Chef Jeremy Lee from Quo Vadis said: “StreetSmart’s secret is that it’s dead simple. Today we can feel far too busy and serious to do anything, but with this tiny effort you can end up with a large lump sum after Christmas. It’s a small gesture for a big problem.”
Adam and Natasha Stokes from Adams Restaurant added: “Being based in the centre of Birmingham, we see first-hand the effects of homelessness. The past 24 months has been devastating for so many which has only created more need for these vital funds. Everyone deserves to live in a safe and stable home.”
All the funds raised in each city will go towards supporting the local homeless.
StreetSmart was founded in 1998 and has since raised over £11.2m, operating in 24 cities across the UK, including Bath, Cumbria, Hampshire and Oxford.
The charity supports over 50 homelessness charities each year, with funds going towards the creation of beds, housing, training, job support and mental health services.
If you are a hospitality operator and would like to sign up to this year’s campaign, you can access the registration form here.
