The hospitality industry has been providing refuge from the snow this week as the ‘Beast from the East' hits the UK.
A Northumberland fish and chip shop opened its doors for a 92-year-old customer on Wednesday, despite originally closing due to snowfall, after she battled through freezing conditions to reach her regular lunch spot.
Manager of the Harbour View in Seaton Sluice, Waseem Mir, told the Chronicle Live: "When we saw the effort Gladys had went through to get her lunch we couldn't ask her to settle for a takeaway so we opened up the restaurant just for her."
Meanwhile, the 30-strong D&D London restaurant group is rewarding customers with reduced price set menus and complementary winter cocktails across its restaurants which include Sartoria, Launceston Place and Le Pont de la Tour.
Other businesses have taken to Twitter to show they're open for business.

Research from customer ratings platform TruRating has revealed a sharp dip in UK restaurant customers over the past three weeks thanks to the cold weather.
Across 26,000 transactions from four UK restaurant chains, footfall was at just 56% of usual traffic.
Best Western has predicted that the loss to the hotel industry as a whole could run into more than £4m in last minute cancellations, after its UK hotels recorded a 15% increase in cancellations in the last 48 hours. Â
Yesterday, the Elephant's Head Hackney cancelled its launch after it experienced delivery problems meaning it could not offer the full menu to diners. It was one of a number of restaurants unable to open.
Unfortunately the restaurant is closed today due to the weather. Stay safe, warm and enjoy the snow with your loved ones! pic.twitter.com/6nQNowDGoK

Weâre really very sorry - especially on a Friday evening - but weâve had to make the tough decision to close again this evening, it really isnât worth the risk to our staff and customers! We really hope that youâll understand , here is the snow in our village! #StaySafeEveryone pic.twitter.com/3CDiNeaIQf
