Catering and event management business Smart Group has acquired luxury catering company Last Supper, joining the group’s existing catering brands including Moving Venue and Smart Hospitality, and alongside its other group divisions Evolution London, Smart Parties and Smart Live.
Last Supper’s portfolio of clients includes Gucci, Breitling, Sotheby’s and Mont Blanc. Last Supper will retain 25% of the business and keep its brand identity, remaining as a separate trading division of the group. The team structure, offices and kitchens of Last Supper will be unaffected by the purchase and the business will continue to be overseen by founder Jonathan Attwood.
Greg Lawson, chief executive of Smart Group, said: “This is a sector of the market that we have had great ambitions to enter. Whilst several opportunities have arisen over the years, none have had quite the same synergy as we felt with Jonathan and his team. Last Supper is a market leader in their segment, and we believe that we are well positioned to take the brand to new heights.”
Attwood added: “Since establishing Last Supper in 2003, it has always been my aim to ultimately partner with a broader like-minded business. Smart Group felt like the right fit, as their focus was very much on maintaining the core values and identity of the brand. This is a great opportunity for Last Supper to continue to grow and finesse its’ offer as well as benefit from the wider support of the Smart Group.”
Prior to Covid, Smart Group’s revenue was in excess of £30m with contracts at sporting and cultural events such as Royal Ascot Village, Lords, Silverstone and Henley Festival, as well as its own flagship venue Evolution London in Battersea Park.
