Mac & Wild founders to roll-out Sixes cricket bar concept

The founders of restaurant group Mac & Wild have launched a cricket-based bar concept which they hope to expand to four sites this summer.

Andy Waugh and Calum Mackinnon briefly opened the first Sixes site in London’s Fulham in December before having to close due to lockdown.

Sixes offers a cricket simulator, styled as batting nets, alongside drinks and gastropub-inspired food such as sausage rolls and lemon-fried chicken with Kiev butter dip.

A second site will open in London’s Fitzrovia on 26 May with four nets and an 80-cover restaurant and bar. Locations in Oxford and Manchester are expected to launch in June or July.

The Fulham bar will reopen for outdoor drinking and dining on 12 April with free cricket for children. Parents can make voluntary donations to the Ruth Strauss Foundation, which is named after the wife of former England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss, who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2018.

Waugh and Mackinnon opened game-focused restaurant Mac & Wild in London in 2015 and have since launched virtual reality hunting bar Smoky Barrels.

The pair are also behind upcoming Edinburgh food hall Bonnie & Wild, which will feature a restaurant from MasterChef: The Professionals winner Gary Maclean.
