Simon Rogan and Adam Handling win top gongs at Craft Guild of Chefs’ Awards

Simon Rogan, chef-owner of the three-Michelin-starred L'Enclume in Cumbria, walked away with the Special Award at the Craft Guild of Chefs’ Awards in London last night.

Rogan received the award in recognition of “going above and beyond during their career”, with previous winners of the accolade including the likes of Angela Hartnett, James Martin, Cyrus Todiwala, Heston Blumenthal, Michel Roux and Albert Roux, Marco Pierre White and Raymond Blanc.

David Mulcahy, vice-president of Craft Guild of Chefs, said: “Simon’s sustainable gastronomy ethos and focus on flavour has been an inspiration to many for more than 20 years. In 2022 his restaurant L’Enclume received a much-deserved third Michelin star and we are delighted to recognise his life work by awarding him this year’s Special Award.”

Adam Handling, chef-owner of Adam Handling Restaurant Group, was awarded the Restaurant Chef Award, while the New Restaurant of the Year Award went to Staffordshire’s first and only one-Michelin-starred restaurant, Upstairs by Tom Shepherd.

Meanwhile, the Chef's Favourite Branded Chain Restaurant award went to Prezzo.

The awards were held on Thursday 1 June at the Park Plaza in Westminster, London, and attended by 700 people from the hospitality industry.
