British hotelier Simon Hirst has been appointed managing director of One Aldwych, London, due to start on 17 July.
Hirst first joined One Aldwych in 1997 where he opened the hotel as general manager. After 14 years he left London to take up the role of general manager of Raffles Praslin Seychelles for Raffles hotels and resorts. In 2013, he was appointed general manager of its sister hotel, Raffles Singapore.
His return to the UK will see him return to the hotel and manage it in the new and elevated capacity of managing director.
Hirst established his reputation in the hotel industry working with hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray for 15 years. In 2008, Hirst was appointed operations director of CampbellGray Hotels overseeing the company's collection of properties, including hotels in Beirut and Antigua.
He began his career with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, where he held management positions in Hong Kong and San Francisco. In 1988 he joined Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts as resident manager of the Four Seasons, Park Lane, London.
He returned to Asia in 1991 as hotel manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong before re-joining Four Seasons in 1994 as general manager to open the Regent, Chiang Mai in northern Thailand.
