SGP Property & Facilities Management has been awarded a £10m national contract to provide catering and FM services for Johnston Press.
The three-year deal is scheduled to go live in September following a three-month mobilisation project.
Johnston Press is one of the three largest local newspaper publishers in the UK, with more than 271 local and regional print titles and 297 websites. SGP will deliver a range of catering, hard and soft FM services to 185 sites.
Around 130 Johnston Press staff currently employed in catering, security, cleaning, buildings maintenance, fire safety management and grounds maintenance will transfer to SGP or the network of service partners under TUPE.
David Crow, divisional managing director of group services at Johnston Press, said that outsourcing facilities management across the group had created a single point of contact for the operational delivery of a range of services currently provided in many different ways.
"This - coupled with the opportunity to free local management time, allowing them to focus further on the publishing aspects of our business - created a compelling case for change. SGP were awarded the contract as they fitted exactly to this process."
