Sandwich Sandwich to launch second London site

Bristol-based Sandwich Sandwich is set to open a second site in the City of London early next year as it seeks to “redefine lunch”.

 

It comes soon after the sandwich purveyor launched its first store on Gresham Street in the capital in July to huge queues.

 

The upcoming Mark Lane Sandwich Sandwich is believed to be the “largest sandwich shop in the country”, spanning 3,500 sq ft.

 

It will offer a grab and go selection and also serve as the headquarters for the brand’s recently launched London-based catering service.

 

Family-run business Sandwich Sandwich was founded by Nick Kleiner, a self-taught chef, in 2010 on Cotham Road South, Bristol.

 

In 2012, he rebranded what was then known as Cotham Sandwich Co into Sandwich Sandwich, launching its flagship store on Baldwin Street, Bristol, the following year.

 

In September, Kleiner told the Casual Dining Show that he has plans to expand Sandwich Sandwich’s estate to 25 sites over the next five years.

 

Speaking to The Caterer, he added: “We want 10-plus sites in the next two years and 25 in the three years after that, in and around London.”

 

Commenting on the Mark Lane site, Kleiner said: “We’ve gained invaluable insights from our experience at Gresham Street. We’ve listened closely to our customers and have used their feedback to shape Mark Lane, ensuring it provides an even better experience for our customers.”
