Rosa's Thai Cafe to open first Birmingham restaurant

Rosa’s Thai Cafe is to open its first restaurant in Birmingham this spring.

The casual dining chain will launch an 80-cover site at Two Chamberlain Square in the Paradise development in the city centre.

It is not the first London-based restaurant group to open at the scheme. Dishoom launched last year while wine bar Vinoteca also has a site lined up.

Rosa’s Thai Cafe was founded by Alex and Saiphin Moore in London’s Spitalfields in 2008 (pictured). Private equity firm TriSpan acquired a majority stake in 2018.

The business has since grown to 22 locations in London, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.

Gavin Adair, managing director at Rosa’s Thai Cafe, said: ”For us, the offer at Paradise was too good an opportunity to miss and we are extremely happy with the setting of our new restaurant overlooking Centenary Way.”

The Birmingham restaurant will open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, offering its signature menu including red butternut curry with sweet basil, and drunken noodles with galangal.

Rob Groves, regional director for Argent, development managers at Paradise, said: “We are very proud that Paradise is now bringing a broad range of great new restaurants to the city.”

The Moores are behind Lao Cafe in London’s Covent Garden and also bought the Ceviche restaurant group out of administration in 2019.
