Claridge’s has announced it will open a new bakery in late summer with chef and baker Richard Hart at the helm
Claridge’s has announced it will open a new bakery in late summer with chef and baker Richard Hart at the helm.
Claridge’s Bakery will have a British-focused menu of classics including bloomers and granary loaves, as well as jam tarts, custard tarts, Belgian buns and iced fingers. It will also sell a range of sourdough breads.
Hart said: “I am excited and honoured to be the executive baker and creative director at Claridge’s Bakery.
“My goal is to celebrate timeless British baked favourites in one of the most notable British institutions. Bread and baked goods are an everyday staple that brings people together and I can’t wait to share my take on it with Londoners and visitors to the capital.”
Hart previously opened Copenhagen’s Hart Bageri in partnership with René Redzepi of Noma and was head baker at Tartine in San Francisco.
Simon Attridge, culinary director at Claridge’s, added: “The team look forward to opening Claridge’s Bakery and to be working with Richard Hart, a highly acclaimed, prestigious name in the world of food.
“Introducing a brand-new space in the hotel that offers things to take home, as well as providing baked goods for the whole hotel, is a significant moment for Claridge’s.”
The bakery will sit alongside the hotel’s ArtSpace Café on Brook’s Mews in Mayfair.
